Aussie School Fonts DeluxeAges 5-12

From type to handwriting in seconds!

Aussie School Fonts Deluxe is a complete set of fonts for teaching handwriting in all Australian States (Note: The South Australian fonts are the ones used prior to 2006. i.e. they are not South Australian Modern Cursive). Provide your students with the correct style to follow. Convert any amount of typed text into perfect handwriting in seconds!

Use these fonts to quickly produce handwriting worksheets in print, pre-cursive and cursive styles (and even speedloops where appropriate).

The handwriting fonts display in solid, outlined, dotted and guideline variations. Provide a consistent and quality approach to teaching handwriting to children while enhancing the quality of your teaching materials.

The included ‘Helper’ program generates the fonts with accurate joins and letter shapes. For the cursive fonts, it calculates the correct letter form to use according to adjacent letters.

Educational Content

Aussie School Fonts is a ‘font generator’ designed for Australian schools and homes. For each State there is print, pre-cursive, cursive and (for NSW & VIC) speedloops styles. Each style displays in solid, dotted, outline and guidelines.

For Teaching

Teachers are required, under National Guidelines, to train students to understand and readily use handwriting to communicate. It’s an essential life-long skill even with the increasing use of computers. Tailored handwriting is right in keeping with Whole Language theory.

Due to the complex nature of handwriting, a single regular font cannot faithfully reproduce each letter shape and join (these change depending on neighbouring letters). So how does it work in Aussie School Fonts Deluxe?

EdAlive has solved this dilemma by creating a font package called ‘Helper’ (shown right) that contains a version of every letter for every possible join combination.

Since a font can contain up to 256 characters we devised an ‘a’ that follows an ‘a’ type exit, an ‘a’ that follows an ‘r’ type exit and so on. We did this for each and every different type of join for each letter of the alphabet. For example, to make sure that the ‘a’ in ‘maestros’ joins correctly to the ‘m’ and the ‘e’ the font employs the ‘Helper’ program to determine the characteristics of the surrounding letters and then places the appropriate version of the ‘a’.

Helper is easy to use!

To convert text from a normal font to the cursive font, simply copy and paste text from your word processor, convert in Helper, then copy and paste back in. Any amount of text may be converted with the process taking only a few seconds. You can also type directly within the Helper, convert and then copy and paste into your word processor.
