Play!

the MagnoBeamer | Launchpad Panic | X-Ray Emergency | Major Meltdown

Here’s the game scenarios for the four fun games in Aussie SpellForce. You can play using your own school spelling lists or choose from the huge bank of built-in lists. Sure beats ‘Look, Hide, Spell & Check’!

The MagnoBeamer!

Spelling & Whole Word Visualisation

An asteroid shower has ripped through a group of SpellForce probes, sending pieces of equipment and asteroid drifting through space. To collect the damaged probes, you have launched ‘The MagnoBeamer’ pod which attracts all surrounding objects to itself.

You must catch the pieces as they drift towards the pod or use the Beam Booster to suck them in. You can destroy any asteroids with the Pulse Laser or let them be vaporised on the force field. Don’t miss any pieces of probe and don’t let an asteroid into the pod! Once you’ve collected all the pieces of probe, you must reassemble it in the S.P.R.O.U.T. (Space Probe Reassembly Operation Unit). Letters are presented randomly and students must gather, in any order, all letters needed to spell the word and discard the others. Letters must then be unscrambled to spell the word.

Launchpad Panic!

Spelling, Letter Shapes, Word Shapes & Decoding

The planet Phyew is so hot, the air so toxic and the local inhabitants so noisy that the P.E.A.S. (Protective Energised Atmospheric Shield) for the Spellforce LaunchPad can only be opened for a short time each day.

The ignition code must be entered to launch the ship. The shield’s shutters will begin to close first but the ship must be clear before the dome slams shut. Students must drag and drop letters from an alphabet to decode either one word or a set of words. Clues include letter shape or a different symbol for each letter.

X-RAY Emergency!

Spelling & Word Shapes

The SpellForce mothership is passing through a powerful X-ray storm. All crew have been ordered to put on their protective clothing but the ship’s V.E.G.I.E.S. (Very Expensive Gravity Inducing Energy Sources) that power the ship have started to decay under the deadly radiation.

To turn off the V.E.G.I.E.S. and save as much of the energy as possible, you must recognise and type in the code before the core is completely exposed. Words are built up on the screen with 12 different reveal styles (eg random pixels, top to bottom). Players type in the word as soon as they recognise it.

Major Meltdown!

Spelling & Proofing

An automatic alarm has been triggered at T.U.R.N.I.P.S. (The Underwater Radio-Nuclear International Power Station). Spellforce has been called in to shut it down before it melts down. To reach the station you must guide your submarine through a series of force field gates. There are three switches but only one will open the gate. Once you are inside T.U.R.N.I.P.S. you must enter the correct shutdown code to avoid an environmental disaster!

Students must make the correct choice when presented with a word and two of its common misspellings (up to ten words per game). They must then recognise any incorrectly spelt words (one option only) from a list of ten.
