Image Use

The images are files which do not do anything by themselves but must be opened by or placed in a document by an application.

Image Size & Quality
Photos are generally 640 x 480 pixels at 72 dpi for horizontal (wide) images and 350 x 480 pixels at 72 dpi for vertical (tall) images.
(dpi is dots per inch and refers to the quality/resolution of an image; 72dpi is the resolution of a computer monitor – web or multimedia images display at 72dpi).

File Formats
Images are supplied in JPEG file format for Windows and Macintosh platforms. Compatible with any desktop publishing, multimedia, word processing or web authoring application that imports JPEG files.

Desktop Publishing & Printing
Use The Australian Photo Library with software capable of importing images – desktop publishing software such as InDesign, Quark Xpress, ClarisWorks, Office, Photoshop, Print Artist or Publisher.*

Mulitmedia Presentations
Use The Australian Photo Library with multimedia authoring software capable of importing images, such as PowerPoint, HyperStudio, Director or Authorware.*

Webpage design
Use The Australian Photo Library with web authoring software capable of importing JPEG images – such as Dreamweaver, Pagemill, GoLive, Visual Page or Splash.*
