Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q. How is EdAlive able to afford to give 20% of sales to schools as accrued CASH?
A. The eCSP is much more cost efficient than the old paper-based CSP. We are therefore able to allocate 20% of each sale for redemption by schools that actively support the eCSP.

Q. What range of software will parents be able to purchase?
A. The full range of the home editions of EdAlive’s software will be available on the eCSP.

Q. Will parents still be able to purchase CDs or is it downloads only?
A. Parents will be able to choose to download the software directly to their computer or for a little extra, order the CDs for delivery directly to their homes.

Q. Will schools be able to purchase using the eCSP?
A. Schools will be able to purchase home editions of EdAlive titles through the eCSP but not the school editions, multi-user licences or network licences. Schools wishing to purchase these variations will need to order in the standard way through www.edalive.com or place their order with EdAlive by phone or fax.

Q. What is the eCSP discount that parents will receive?
A. Generally the eCSP discount will be at least 50% off RRP.

Q. Will the school and parent information be secure and private?
A. All transactions are covered by our standard privacy policy and are secured using 128 bit encryption using SSL. Parents can either pay by credit card or using PayPal.

Q. Will parents be able obtain a refund if they are not satisfied with their purchase?
A. Yes. Our 30-day money-back guarantee applies to downloads and CDs.

The role of schools in the eCSP

Q. How is it that there will be no money or parent order forms for the school to handle?
A. Parents place their orders directly via www.edalive.com, not through the school. This completely removes the overhead of the school administration from the ordering and money collection process.

Q. Are there any privacy issues in relation to parents from the school’s point of view?
A. No. With the eCSP the school does not pass on the parent details to us. Parents contact us in their own right and nominate the school their child attends by their own choice.

Q. What costs are there to the school in actively supporting the eCSP?
A. Little to none. If schools choose to download and photocopy the eCSP Parent Information Leaflet (and we recommend you do) then the school will need to cover the cost of the photocopying. We have designed the Parent Information Leaflet to print in B&W on a double-sided A4 sheet of paper to keep costs as low as possible. If the school chooses to only uses a paragraph in the school newsletter and/or links from the school web site or pages then the cost will be zero.

Q. Does the school have to register for parents to receive the eCSP discount?
A. No. Schools do not need to register for the eCSP. Parents can nominate the school their child attends. It is up to the school whether they claim the accrued CASH or not. It is important that schools nominate an eCSP Liaison Person with access to a regularly checked email address as we will communicate in this way from time to time. Without this contact it will be difficult for the school to claim any accrued CASH.

Q. What if our school doesn’t show up in the list of schools from which parents can choose?
A. Most schools will already be on the list but schools and parents can request that we add new schools to the list. We will validate the request and then add the school.

Schools and accrued CASH

Q. How long does the accrued CASH last for?
A. 6 months. After 6 months the oldest activity will drop off leaving activity less than 6 months old accrued for the school.

Q. What will happen to a school’s accrued CASH if the school does not actively support the eCSP or claim their credits?
A. Unclaimed accrued CASH will accumulate in the school’s account and may be claimed at any time, keeping in mind that activity older than 6 months will drop off.

Q. What is an actively participating eCSP school?
A. Schools that actively inform the parents about the eCSP are able to claim CASH accrued to the school account. This can be done in a number of ways. When claiming eCSP credits we will ask that you indicate the ways in which this active support has been given. We will suggest some standard ways schools can use but you will be free to come up with others. For a school to claim their accrued CASH there will need to be a clearly identified eCSP Liaison Person actively monitoring the school’s nominated eCSP email address and the school will need to have taken the required steps to communicate with parents about the eCSP.

Q. How will EdAlive ensure that the 20% accrued CASH is paid to the right school?
A. We will only communicate the accrued CASH balance to the email address nominated by the school. To claim the accrued CASH the eCSP liaison person will need to print the accompanying PDF and complete the statement identifying the activities the school has undertaken by way of active support. The eCSP Liaison will then sign the form and have it counter-signed by the school Principal. The completed form will then be faxed or mailed to EdAlive and we will make a cheque out to the school and post it back to the Principal.

Q. Will schools still be able to obtain FREE network licences for EdAlive products?
A. Instead of redeeming the accrued CASH directly, schools will be able to elect to use the accrued CASH to purchase licences from EdAlive. The CASH will be credited at 200% of its value when used in this way i.e. $50 cash will have $100 purchasing power.

How parents hear about the eCSP

Q. How do parents get to hear about the eCSP?
A. Schools will communicate with parents about the eCSP through their web sites, and/or printed and electronic newsletters. Teachers will recommend EdAlive software in many instances.

Q. Is there an eCSP email newsletter?
A. Yes. All schools that have recently participated in the CSP as well as parents who requested that we keep them informed of developments after the cessation of the printed CSP will be receiving an email newsletter.

Q. Is it possible for parents to purchase from www.edalive.com at eCSP prices without the school’s involvement?
A. Yes. All a parent needs to do to access the eCSP pricing is to nominate the school their child attends as they enter the eCSP section on the EdAlive site. From then on they will be presented with purchasing options with the eCSP discount applied.
