"BRAINtastic! is a fabulous resource! The software allows children to select one of four (at present!) games to play within the same educational framework. This keeps the children engaged throughout as they can change game as they work through their levels.
As I am responsible for teaching ICT throughout the school I am using it with children from P4 - P7 (8-11yo). In ICT we use generic 'class logins' whilst the children are taught how to use the software. In class they will use personal logins.
The fact that BRAINtastic! with be used in Maths as well as Language is another plus as the children will be used to the format but again will be able to select the 'game' that they, themselves, want to play.
Another benefit for the teacher is that children can be moved up and down levels allowing children to progress at their appropriate level. The children's progress can be monitored as well which can give teachers reassurance as to what level the children are working on and if there are any areas where a child needs reinforcement.
Teachers can allow children to work in groups or individually and can select specific or broad areas for the children to work at. BRAINtastic! can be used to support specific areas of the curriculum running alongside and built-in to their plans.
Lastly, I must mention again the children. They can become engaged and absorbed in BRAINtastic!, having a wonderful experience whilst (probably!) not realising the educational benefit they receive. It is great to see and hear waving and cheering as they progress! BRAINtastic fantastic!"

"I would like to take this opportunity to state how impressed I have been by the BRAINtastic! Word Skills CD Rom for Key Stage 2. A number of children in the upper classes have been fighting for computer space to play the reward games, of which Bug Whack is a particular favourite. I, in turn, have been able to set individual levels to suit each child's needs on the expertly devised literacy questions. I shall recommend the software to all our parents."
K. Partington - Head of English
"I like the program contents and the fact that the players have to earn the games as rewards. Will recommend that parents buy this for their software collections."
N. Harman, Bishopsgate School
"The (BRAINtastic! Word Skills) questions are very thorough, concisely thought out and clear."

"Having trialled the new BRAINtastic! with Yrs 5 & 6 the children loved it, especially the Fashion Games - even the boys! It's clearly another winner with the children. It improves grammar and implicitly their IT capability."

“My two youngest children - Abby (6) & Sam (4) - are veteran software testers/critics. They know exactly what works for them. So taking BRAINtastic! home for them was a challenge. But, what a hit! The success and popularity of the software was unquestionable. As a parent it was wonderful.
The ability to target subject areas and focus on your child’s needs is a real bonus, and one of the best bits for a parent is that we are in control. We can set the amount and subject of questions that must be played before the reward game. We can review the results easily, and have real insight into the educational areas that our children are enjoying or struggling with.
Sam and Abby were more than happy to keep answering the questions. They didn’t hesitate, there was no need to be pushed or nagged. They knew the longer they took to do that, the further away the game was. Their sheer enthusiasm took over and hours of learning and fun passed without any of us knowing. All this fun comes with a downside, however, and that is stopping - nobody wanted to!”

“Georgia (9) loves BRAINtastic! especially the games. The questions are entertaining and understandable and then she gets to play the game of her choice! Extreme Fashion is her favourite which means I can set the program with more questions and choose the educational content for that particular game, before she plays the game. Being able to set the content means I can target the same areas being set in her homework, for example, grammar.”

“I liked the fact that I could customise the number of questions for each child, allowing Xavier (age 5) six questions and Nakisah (age 10) ten questions, before they could get to a reward game. Very handy! They both found the questions easy to understand and sometimes challenging, which is good!.
When I first went through the BRAINtastic! game with my kids, they were extremely excited at the prospect of playing the reward games. It definitely gave them the incentive and motivation to do the educational part, so that they could get to “the fun stuff”, as they called it.
Nakisah described Extreme Fashion, her favourite, as ‘Very cool, you get to create really great outfits that girls would love to wear. I love it!’. Xavier loved BugWHACK!: ‘I like hearing the bugs make all those funny noises!’ ”
