Thanks to Bald Blair and Ebor Public Schools
14th November 2024
On Tuesday 5th November, Managing Director Graham East was lucky to attend Bald Blair and Ebor Public Schools to observe first-hand the students using Spelling Force for the first time.
Automatic mode working well
The observations clearly demonstrated the Spelling Force Automated system’s capacity to rapidly level students. The students started in the Test activity using Automatic mode and continued for approximately 50 words. Graham and the teachers then used the “Recent Spellings” report accessible from Tools and Reports to cross check the levelling and analysis of the Spelling Force system against the teacher’s understanding of their actual spelling performance. In all cases but one we concluded that the levelling of the system was an accurate approximation of the in-class spelling performance of each child. We also observed some anomalies in efficiency that affected the efficiency of the process but not the ultimate outcome.
Changes made to the Automatic system
The anomalies noted were then more fully analysed by the EdAlive team. Changes were then made to the underlying Adaptive Learning algorithm that powers the levelling component of the Automated system. The changes were designed to ensure that the Automated system more rapidly and decisively levels all spellers and will now be further tested and then analysed.
